Cannabis Dispensary "Free Placement" Option

With free "turnkey" ATM placement, the dispensary does not pay for the ATM machine(s), delivery fee, installation cost, or repair and maintenance services. Typically we place between 1 - 4 ATMs into your location. We will load the cash in your ATM(s) and monitor them remotely to ensure there is ALWAYS plenty of cash available for your patients. We will also include ATM signage and paper supplies. There is no cost to you. The dispensary in turn receives a percentage of the revenue on each surcharged withdrawal which usually ranges from 25%-30%. Our focus will be to keep your machines loaded and performing.

Dispensary ATM FAQs

• What state's do you operate? Green Genie can place ATMs in any dispensary if marijuana is legal in that state. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 18 states have legalized the adult use of marijuana for recreational purposes (and medical uses, as well): Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia and Washington so if you are in one of the states listed, we can service your location.
• What is the best ATM for a dispensary? Although any of the retail ATMs we sell would work well, we recommend choosing an ATM with a lager capacity or a dual cassette dispenser. A dual cassette allows for fewer trips to reload cash not only because it holds twice as much as a single cassette, but you now have the ability to dispense multiple denominations like 50s or 100s along with 20s. The cash in the ATM lasts longer as well as fewer small bills for the dispensary to count at the end of the day.
• What about a Cashless ATMS or Script machine? This is a big no-no. Script machines run as cashless ATMS allow cannabis dispensaries to make sales that are disguised as cash withdrawals. Dispensaries intentionally miscode marijuana purchases as ATM withdrawals. The patient swipes his card, there is usually a fee charged to the customer just like an ATM withdrawal, the dispensary rounds up to the nearest $10 or $20 increment so it looks like an ATM transaction, and gives the customer the change back in cash. Visa released a memo warning against the misuse of ATM transactions used by businesses that “are unable to obtain payment services as it is in violation of the Visa Core Rules and Visa Product and Service Rules and Plus Core Rules and Plus Product and Service Rules. Fraudulent use of cashless ATMs "will be subject to non-compliance assessments and/or penalties" or "subject to further compliance enforcement" as per Visa.
